Fuel delivery in Virginia
Virginia’s fuel demand is split between two very different markets. Northern Virginia — Loudoun and Fairfax counties in particular — hosts the largest concentration of data centers in the world, and those facilities run diesel standby generators that require priority contract fuel, not spot delivery. Further south and east, Richmond and Hampton Roads are built around freight distribution and the Port of Virginia, where diesel demand comes from trucking fleets and construction rather than backup power.
Winter diesel gelling is a real concern in the Shenandoah Valley and western counties; we blend for cold-weather operability on deliveries scheduled November through March statewide.
